In 2008, Puneet Mittal — then an engineer at Synopsys, Cadence and Magma — started a free blog answering student questions about VLSI design. The blog became a community. The community made clear there was a gap nobody was filling: students graduating with theory but no real EDA tool experience, no exposure to actual semiconductor flows, no one to answer questions at midnight when they were stuck.
In 2010, VLSI EXPERT became a brand. In 2014, it added YouTube and a Kindle book. In 2016, Puneet left corporate to build it full-time. In 2018, it was formally incorporated as VLSI EXPERT Private Limited.
Today, VLSI EXPERT has trained 5,000+ engineers across 15+ countries, holds active partnerships with Synopsys and Innatera, works with 50+ institutions and 20+ corporates, operates training centers in Noida, Mysuru and Bangalore, and is building a product portfolio through ChipGrad, its EDA tool and custom processor programs.
